Clinical Experience, Combination Therapy with Help Apheresis and our patients – a talk with our medical director and chief physician, Dr. Irina Pavlik Marangos
Dr. Irina as she is affectionately called by our patients and nurses has been working in research in the University Hospital Oslo for almost a decade before she decided to come back to the frontline. After having treated chronic illness sufferers for many years, there is only few symptoms and medical issues she has not come across in this field – one of the reasons no patient ever gets a questioning look from her. Only if someone under her care does not follow her doctor’s advice she will go in no time from soft as silk to pragmatic! One of her biggest strengths is to talk to patients in a non-medical language that makes everyone understand their treatment effortlessly.

In this talk science journalist Gez Medinger and our co-founder Markus Klotz talk about their own Long Covid journeys and why they both came to the conclusion that Combination Therapy for Long Covid needs to be individualised for every single one of us. Back in early 2021 when Markus simply did not recover, but got worse and worse after his first Covid infection it was Gez’ Youtube videos that made him understand that what he was suffering from was Long Covid. Like him, many have benefitted from Gez’ work. During his stay at our clinic, he and Markus took some time and shared some insights they both learned over the last two years.

Προσπαθήσαμε να εξηγήσουμε τα πράγματα πολύ απλουστευμένα και σε μια εύκολα κατανοητή μορφή και σε αντάλλαγμα θυσιάσαμε λίγη από την ιατρική και επιστημονική ακρίβεια για να είναι πιο εύκολη η παρακολούθηση.

H.E.L.P. Αφαιρέσεις με πρόσβαση μέσω καθετήρα ποδιού
Our patient Stephen allowed us to film his H.E.L.P. Apheresis treatment, so that people can get an insight on how the treatment works with the use of a catheter (a special apheresis catheter is used if you have very small veins, bad/affected veins that make them inaccessible with apheresis needles, or in some cases if your apheresis needles keep getting blocked). You can find more information on catheters at the bottom of the in the FAQ section here
H.E.L.P. Προετοιμασία/προετοιμασία μηχανήματος αφέρεσης βίντεο
Περίπου μία ώρα πριν από την επεξεργασία πρέπει να προετοιμαστούν και να συνδεθούν τα 30 κιλά υγρών (NaCl, οξικό άλας, διττανθρακικό άλας, θειική ηπαρανίνη) και οι σωλήνες, οι προσροφητές και τα φίλτρα και στη συνέχεια το μηχάνημα Plasmat Futura πρέπει να ξεπλυθεί, να δοκιμαστεί και να προετοιμαστεί και να περάσει από διάφορους μηχανικούς αυτοελέγχους για να διαπιστωθεί αν όλες οι αντλίες και οι σφιγκτήρες, οι αισθητήρες και τα ηλεκτρονικά συστήματα είναι 100% ακριβή και λειτουργούν (αυτή η διαδικασία ονομάζεται προετοιμασία).

- Disinfection prior to the treatment / use of liquid gloves
- Covid rapid tests and unmasking

- Preparation of the catheter (flushing with aspirator) which will cause the sterile protection sheet to be slightly stained
- Other medical/safety factors before/during/after the treatment
- Instructions of the patient how to take care of the needle stitches/catheter and optimal hydration/nutrition/rest after the treatment

Ντοκιμαντέρ της τηλεόρασης ARTE 'Long Covid - Θεραπεία στην Κύπρο' για το Κέντρο Αφαιρέσεων μας
Το ντοκιμαντέρ προβλήθηκε τον Ιούνιο του 2024. Μια ομάδα δημοσιογράφων από το ευρωπαϊκό τηλεοπτικό κανάλι ARTE TV συνόδευσε τρεις από τους ασθενείς μας με Long Covid και Post Vac Syndrom και πήρε συνέντευξη από αυτούς και την ομάδα μας στο Κέντρο Αφαιρέσεων. Εδώ μπορείτε να παρακολουθήσετε ένα απόσπασμα από το ντοκιμαντέρ, το οποίο είναι επίσης εύκολο να παρακολουθήσουν ασθενείς με νοητική δυσλειτουργία, εγκεφαλική ομίχλη και συναφείς ημικρανίες. Verena
Verena was first treated with an Immunoadsorption, then 5 H.E.L.P. Apheresis and at last with Combination Therapy with HBOT. The TV team documented her 2nd visit in Cyprus whilst she received her HBOT therapy. Our co-founder Markus talked to her after her H.E.L.P. Liz
Liz was treated with 9 H.E.L.P. Apheresis and Combination Therapy. The TV team documented her 2 month long stay at our clinic whilst she received her Combination Therapy with H.E.L.P. Apheresis, various IVs and anticoagulation therapy. Our co-founder Markus talked to her and her mum Amanda a few months after they returned home. Celine, the third patient who was interviewed and who is seen at the end of this short video excerpt, received 3 H.E.L.P. Apheresis treatments. As mentioned in the documentary’s broadcast, whilst her eyesight recovered through the treatments, she did not report other noticeable symptom changes. The journalists visited her in France.
